Our small group photography tour in Jokulsarlon, Iceland offers a unique opportunity to witness the beauty of the Northern Lights in one of the most stunning locations in the world.

Jokulsarlon, also known as the Glacier Lagoon, is a natural wonder situated at the edge of Vatnajokull National Park. The lagoon is filled with icebergs that have broken off from the nearby glacier, creating a picturesque landscape that’s absolutely stunning.

November is one of the best months to visit Iceland, thanks to the sun’s low trajectory. This translates to roughly 5 hours of low light conditions during daytime shooting, which provide an incredible blend of a sunrise and sunset and produce some of the most stunning  light. The sun’s low position in the sky gives rise to beautiful golden hour lighting throughout the day.

The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are discharged particles from the sun that pass through the magnetic shield of earth and create light when they mix with atoms and molecules such as nitrogen and oxygen gases on entering into the earth’s atmosphere. These particles travel through space towards planet earth being drawn towards the earth’s magnetic north and south polar regions. During periods of strong solar flares the light becomes extremely dynamic producing swirls and flash patterns throughout the sky. The colours merge and flash from greens, reds, yellows and violets.

The sight is awe inspiring. The Aurora Borealis is one of the most incredible natural phenomenon’s you will ever witness and we will be with you every step of the way to capture it all.

On this Northern Lights Iceland special you will receive a location masterclass in Aurora photography and all the techniques required from our professional photographer. Each photographer will receive dedicated tuition to capture the Northern Lights and the Icelandic landscape.

In addition to the Northern Lights, we will explore the Glacier Lagoon and its surroundings during the day. We will visit ice caves, black sand beaches, and other breathtaking natural wonders that Iceland has to offer.

Our locations during this tour will of course be the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and black Ice beach, we also have two other glacier lagoons within a few minutes drive. Other locations included are Vestrahorn, Eystrahorn and the east fjords.
